“It’s okay, Lindsay, I would never hurt you. Thank you so much for this gift, baby.” Kayden didn’t know why he felt the need to verbalize his intentions when he had a tight grip on Lindsay’s mind, but it was necessary to him to look her in the eyes and say the words. She wasn’t relaxed any longer, but restless in his arms. Her need for relief was as great as his, and Kayden was going to give her that release.
Kayden’s fangs sank into the pale, sweet column of the gorgeous blonde’s neck and liquid temptation coated his tongue again. This was against the rules, and not only his personal decision to never have sex with the females he fed on. There was no blood in the club. No feeding on the property, even if the reason Thirst had been opened was to help the large local vampire youth population find a place to feed, or at least find blood without bringing undue attention. Likewise, if every vampire in the building were feeding, eventually, a human would see too much. You could hunt at the club, but no feeding. The only person who ever broke that rule was Chase Deidrick, whose father owned the club but left the management to others. Chase stepped in to help in that capacity just so he would have use of this private studio apartment in the back of the club. Kayden was currently trespassing and breaking all the rules to boot.
“Kayden,” Lindsay moaned and rubbed her perfect curves against him.
Kayden continued to drink greedily while his resolve to keep his dick in his pants faded. He pushed his hips against Lindsay’s when she clutched his ass and pulled him closer. The thumping music from the club on the other side of the door he’d pressed Lindsay against blended with the sound of her heartbeat in his head to create a rhythm he couldn’t resist. She writhed against him, rubbing against his hardness. Kayden pushed into Lindsay’s mind a little deeper, pouring on the pleasure until the muscles of her neck tensed, her entire body stiffened, and she screamed. Lindsay rocked against Kayden, riding her orgasm to its completion while Kayden fed.
He licked over the two small punctures in her neck to heal the wounds. Kayden’s fangs receded, and so did his bloodlust. His sexual desire was another problem altogether. He was on the edge of crossing a line that suddenly didn’t look so immoral at all. Lindsay had wanted him before he enthralled her, right?
Kayden kissed Lindsay, not only because he wanted to, but to heal the cuts on her tongue caused by his fangs. He also wanted to remove all the blood from her mouth. Lindsay kissed him back with as much passion as she had when she grabbed him by the hair. Kayden slowly backed out of her mind so she would have total control and memory.
Lindsay blinked a few times and focused on Kayden’s face. Then her gaze bounced around the shadowy room. Now that his hunger was satisfied, Kayden’s eyes had returned to normal. His libido was, unfortunately, not satisfied by a long shot.
“Where are we?” Lindsay asked.
“We’re in my friend’s private studio apartment behind the club. His dad owns the place. Exactly how much did you have to drink?” Kayden asked. Giving a human a reason for any time they might be missing helped them move past it. It also made him feel like a jerk for implying she was drunk when he knew she wasn’t. He could implant a memory for her, but Kayden didn’t want to mess with her head any more than was needed.
“I haven’t had much to drink. I just …” Lindsay let the thought trail off. “It doesn’t matter. We’re here now.” Lindsay dismissed her confusion and refocused on Kayden.
With the taste of her blood in his mouth and the aroma of her arousal in the air, Kayden didn’t stand a chance of resisting Lindsay when she began to kiss him again. She pushed against his chest and he walked backward farther into the room while he feasted on her sweet mouth.
With a groan, Lindsay pushed Kayden down onto his back on the bed. Kayden grew even harder when she kicked off her shoes and slid the thin straps of her dress off of her shoulders. The dress pooled on the floor in a sparkling puddle of fabric. This was happening. Kayden knew his will to leave had evaporated. He wanted to feel Lindsay’s smooth skin against his body. It was a relief when he unbuttoned his pants, and his erection sprang free from the confines of his jeans when Kayden shucked his own clothing.
When Lindsay stepped out of her panties and crawled over him completely nude, looking like she was on a mission, Kayden lost his breath. She was a gorgeous female. Her body was long and lean. Her legs were tall stems that led the eyes up to the sweet flesh he wished he’d taken the time to savor with his mouth, but Lindsay was already mounting him, and Kayden wasn’t about to stop her now. She was like molten lava flowing over his skin, so hot she could scorch him to death but too tempting to let go.
Kayden recaptured Lindsay’s lips, and she pressed her full breasts against his chest. Her hips rocked against his erection. Kayden moaned into her mouth.
“Oh, God … Kayden … I need to feel you inside of me.”
Her words fried his brain again. Kayden’s hips involuntarily pressed his thick erection into her pelvis. Lindsay hissed and rose up over him to position herself, and he didn’t want to stop her, but he had to be sure this was what she wanted. Just before she sank down onto his aching shaft, Kayden stopped her.
“Lindsay, look at me,” Kayden demanded. He put just the slightest bit of a mental push into the command to slow her down, but not enough to enthrall her again. She stopped and looked him in the eyes, but her hands didn’t stop moving. Lindsay’s left hand was roaming over the muscles of his chest, and her right hand gripped his dick and began to stroke it.
“Yes?” Grinning, she gazed down at him expectantly. She knew she was driving him insane with those sliding fingers.
Kayden struggled to breathe but somehow got through the question he needed to ask.
“Are you sure about this? You’ve been drinking.” Kayden had fed on Lindsay, so he knew she wasn’t completely drunk, just pleasantly buzzed. That combined with the fact that he’d enthralled her to get her into this room and erased her memory of seeing his fangs made Kayden feel less than honorable. He needed Lindsay to look him in the eyes so he knew that she was totally aware and entirely onboard before he could do what he so desperately wanted to do. Which was to plow her into the bed until neither of them could walk or speak.
“I’m absolutely sure.” She kissed his mouth softly. “Thank you for being a gentleman, but I want you now. Okay?” she asked.
“Okay.” Kayden felt like the furthest thing from a gentleman when he grabbed Lindsay’s hips and thrust up into her slick sex as she lowered herself onto him. It was a duel possession that wrecked Kayden. She was wet, but he felt her body struggle to relax around his girth. He found the strength to hold himself still while Lindsay took over. She worked him steadily until she’d seated herself completely. His eyes rolled back into his head, and his mind blanked again. He’d never been this deep in a female. She was panting and sweating. Lindsay’s body glistened with a light sheen of sweat from her exertion and Kayden had never seen a more beautiful sight.
“Lindsay. Please. I need you to move. Ride me,” he demanded, and she did.
Lindsay rocked and rolled her hips in a rhythm that alternated between a gallop and a gentle roll. She took what she needed when she needed it and Kayden was along for the erotic ride. He watched her beautiful face twist with pleasure as she shifted and angled her body in pursuit of her orgasm. Gritting his teeth against his own pleasure, he cupped Lindsay’s full breasts, weighing them in his big hands.
“So close. So close, Kayden,” Lindsay panted and stuttered his name.
Kayden grinned. He’d been letting Lindsay have her way with him. That wasn’t something he usually did, but she had needed time to adjust to him and then the sight of her riding him had been too mesmerizing to stop. Once she found her release, Kayden was going to take over. The alpha in him needed to prove his worthiness to this female. That thought brought Kayden up short. He didn’t need to prove anything to anyone.
He refocused on the task at hand, which was making Lindsay scream his name. With her luscious breasts in his
hands, Kayden began to thrust up into Lindsay as she pressed down. He gave her nipples a firm pinch and tugged slightly. Lindsay made an unintelligible noise of pleasure. Again and again, he thrust, changing his angle slightly each time until Lindsay made a sound that told him he’d found her sweet spot.
“Kayden. Kayden. Kayden,” Lindsay repeated his name and Kayden knew he had her right where he wanted her. She was holding on by a thread. He slowed his upward motion, and Lindsay whimpered.
“Do you want to come, Lindsay? Tell me you do,” he coaxed. He wanted to hear her say it. He wanted her to ask him for her pleasure. He wasn’t use to being on his back. He had a deep need to reestablish his dominance that wouldn’t be denied.
“Please,” Lindsay implored. She tried to move, to ride him and take her pleasure, but Kayden wasn’t having it. Even on his back, he was still in charge. He held her hips steady while he slowly moved in and out of her channel, brushing that sweet spot gently with every pass. He kept her on the edge of orgasm without falling over.
Lindsay’s nails dug into his shoulders. Lost in her need, she dragged them down his chest, mindlessly seeking her release. Kayden’s hips jerked at the pleasurable pain her nails raking his skin evoked.
“I couldn’t hear you,” Kayden said. He could, however, hear the strain in his own voice.
“Please!” Lindsay shouted. “Make me …” she paused, not use to saying such a dirty word, “make me come!” Lindsay’s already flushed skin deepened in color. She looked into his eyes and said, “Please, fuck me,” in a quieter, more pleading than demanding tone.
Kayden could tell that she was embarrassed by the words and it made him unreasonably happy. This female wasn’t used to this kind of language. Judging by the time it took her to adjust to his size, she wasn’t as experienced as he’d assumed. Why that made him happy, Kayden couldn’t say, but he was pleased and now very much in the mood to give her exactly what she needed.
“You got it, baby. All you had to do was ask.” Grinning, Kayden winked at Lindsay before he wrapped an arm around her waist and flipped their positions.
Lindsay squeaked and held on to him. She was elegantly built with long limbs and perfectly proportioned curves. She was tall and lean without being overly thin or petite. Kayden didn’t feel like he was about to crush her when she was pressed beneath him.
Lindsay writhed and pushed her hips against Kayden’s, searching for the friction she needed. Rising up on his knees, he looked down his body to where he was joined with Lindsay. The primal urge to conquer became so intense that his vision changed. He hissed and slammed his eyes shut because Lindsay was focused on his face. Dammit. His eyes had changed again, and he could feel his fangs pressing against his lip.
Refusing to take over Lindsay’s mind again, Kayden used his telekinetic gift to turn out the dim light completely. Lindsay gasped at the loss of light, but Kayden didn’t give her a chance to question it. He began to work her body, giving them both the pleasure they needed. Kayden wasn’t able to control his eyes or keep his fangs from emerging again at that moment. He felt like an animal. The urge to bite Lindsay again was nearly overwhelming. He focused on giving her pleasure like she’d never known before. The alpha predator in him wanted to leave marks on her smooth, perfect skin.
Kayden plunged into Lindsay at just the right angle. She moaned his name and clutched his forearms. He shifted one hand to rub firm circles over her clit with his thumb. Lindsay screamed. Her body seized, and she bucked, but Kayden wouldn’t let her pull away. He held her hips in place and rode her harder until she screamed again. It wasn’t enough. He needed more. She needed to give him more.
He lifted Lindsay off of the bed and carried her across the room. He was nowhere near done, but he had to avoid Lindsay’s mouth. Cutting her again wasn’t an option. Neither was erasing her memory. So he sat her feet on the hardwood floor and spun her around. Lindsay was limp and acquiescent when he put a hand between her shoulder blades and pressed her down, so her torso rested on the back of the cushioned chair. He entered her again from behind and lifted her hips to accommodate his height. After that Kayden lost himself in Lindsay. It wouldn’t be until years later that Kayden would understand the importance of this reaction to another person. Time passed slowly as he sank deeper into his need to possess her body.
Sometime later, Kayden and Lindsay collapsed in a tangle of limbs and sweaty bodies. She seemed happy to rest there in his arms and Kayden had to admit he didn’t mind it either. It was possible that she wasn’t able to move. It was comfortable, and for once he didn’t feel like getting dressed and taking off after sex. His mind wandered for a while until he was finally able to focus. He was thinking about the odd things he’d observed about Lindsay. Now that they had caught their breath he couldn’t hold back his curiosity any longer.
“Do you ever go home?” Kayden asked out of the blue.
Lindsay stiffened. She rose up onto her elbow and looked down at him. He knew she couldn’t really see his face in the darkness, just the shape of him, but he could see her questioning features clearly.
“How do you know I don’t go home?”
“I asked you a question first,” Kayden countered lamely. He’d put his foot in his mouth. Now she would know he’d watched her. He hadn’t followed her around or anything creepy like that. It was just that she was a knockout. How could a male not notice when she was near him?
Lindsay seemed to consider her answer. Then she shrugged and told Kayden the truth.
“I have no one to go home to, nobody but servants, anyway. My parents are in politics. They travel a lot. They always have. I don’t like to be alone anymore. The idea of wandering around that big estate with no friends and nothing to do doesn’t appeal to me now that I know what it’s like to actually live.”
“Politics, huh? Why don’t they take you with them? I thought those people loved to paint a picture of a perfect family.”
Kayden had almost said he thought human politicians loved to have a family image, but he’d caught himself at the last moment. This was a bad idea. Not only was Lindsay human, but she came from a family of politicians that would be in the public eye.
“I don’t know.” Lindsay rested her head back on his shoulder. “Maybe they didn’t want a kid in the way of their travels. Maybe it’s because I wasn’t born the boy they really wanted.”
It was quiet for a bit while Kayden pondered that idea. It made no sense to him. A child was a child when it came to a public figure as far as he could tell, but what did he know about human family dynamics? There were shitty vampire parents as well. He was lucky to have two parents who loved him and showed it.
“Don’t get me wrong,” Lindsay interrupted his thoughts, “I wasn’t neglected as a child or anything. I had the best of everything. Beautiful clothes, a chef, a maid, a private tutor, and plenty of space to play. My parents are just busy people,” she explained, and Kayden could tell by the defensive tone of her voice that the subject made her uncomfortable.
Kayden’s idea of neglect was a little different than Lindsay’s definition of the word. He also noticed she hadn’t mentioned friends or any other family members. It sounded lonely to a male who’d been raised with the kids of the other warriors in a place that was more or less a military base. He didn’t have any siblings, but he’d never been lonely. He decided to change the subject to a less uncomfortable one.
“What are you studying? Let me guess, design? Are you an art major of some sort?” Kayden asked.
Lindsay lifted her head to look at his shape again. “What makes you think I would be studying design?” she asked, sounding a little annoyed.
“I don’t know. Maybe it’s your fashionable clothing. I can imagine you drawing dresses and making them by hand or maybe even doing home design. You look like doing something creative like that would make you happy. I didn’t mean it as an insult, Lindsay. You seem like a fun person, and that sounds like a fun job.” Kayden felt like he’d put his foot in his mouth, agai
n.
“You think I’m fun?” she asked.
“Well, yeah. You always have friends around. When you’re in the club, you aren’t a wallflower. You dance and drink and enjoy yourself,” Kayden answered, but he didn’t mention that every time he saw her outside of the club, she was alone. It was like she had two sides. There was the Lindsay who was the life of the party. Then there was a different Lindsay who still wore stylish clothing and sky-high heels, but she ate alone, visited the bookstore, and walked by herself around the park. Yes, he did sound like a stalker, but honestly, he just seemed to end up in her general vicinity often. Kayden blamed Chase for his frequent Lindsay sightings. She hung out in Chase’s swanky neighborhood where all the pricey shops are located.
“Thank you. I think fashion design would actually be an enjoyable career to have, but I didn’t get much choice. Okay, I got no choice. My father decided my majors and picked my college,” she admitted, and Kayden could tell by her slightly raised temperature that she was blushing. Maybe she hadn’t wanted to acknowledge that part. She cleared her throat and continued.
“I’m pre-law, double majoring in political science and criminal justice. It’s going great so far. I’m a little bored, to be honest, but I’m maintaining the expected four point zero grade point average with little effort. My father is pleased when I speak to him.” She laid her head back down as if she hadn’t just dropped a bomb.
Fuck! He’d assumed she was a little airheaded like the typical blonde with her head in the clouds. She was gorgeous and blonde like his childhood friend, Samantha, and Samantha didn’t care about anything but fashion and socializing. Now he was rethinking what little he knew about Lindsay. Kayden was beginning to believe that the quiet loner he’d seen in public was the real Lindsay. Where did Lindsay the party girl come from? He was willing to bet that was just the behavior of a person who had been secluded for most of her youth. Now she was enjoying her freedom, and there wasn’t a damn thing wrong with that.
